When I got engaged to the wonderful girl who became my wife, I wanted to share the news with everyone and invite them all to celebrate with us. A companion website was created for our wedding.
The main goal of the website was to inform people about the invite and answer the common questions everyone asks you when they find out you're engaged. First, they want to know how you met. Second, they want to know how you proposed. And third, they want to know why you feel in love.
I didn't just want to present my side of the story however. I created a backbend for the both of us to sign into. Each of us had unique logins that allowed us to only edit our sides of the story.
A photo album section allowed us to share photos from our courtship and other activities. Photos were uploaded through a web interface and thumbnails automatically created for each photo. We both also had the option to comment on the photo.
Next we wanted to be able to answer any questions that people might have about us that we had yet to answer. The question sections allowed users to submit questions for us to later answer. Questions that needed to be answered were displayed when we were logged in. Again, each of us had the ability to give our own answer to each question so users could get both sides of the story or hear both opinions.
Finally, a guest book was added to the site for users to leave their wishes and congratulations for all to see and for us to enjoy.
