CHum 284 Control Panels

Description

When I first started teaching CHum 284, there wasn't really a good way for students to get feedback on their assignments. Periodical emails would be sent to the students but an easier and better method was needed.

The CHum 284 Control Panels were created to solve this problem. One control panel is for students and the other for teachers and TA's.

The Student Control Panel allows them to check their grades, read feedback on assignments, send private messages to their teacher and TA, and post messages in a class forum.

The Teacher and TA Control Panel is much more advance. A permissions system provides different levels of access between teachers and TA's. TA's only have limited access to their section. The main job of TA's using the control panel is to enter in students' grades and provide feedback on their assignments. However, TA's can also view student bios, view grade summaries on specific students, see how students as a whole are doing on a certain assignment, send private messages to students, other TA's, and teachers, and post and moderate the class forum.

Teachers have all the capabilities of TA's as well as additional options. Teachers are able to create new assignments in which they decide the amount of points the assignment is worth, when the assignment is given to students, when the assignment is due, and what the requirements of the assignment are. Teachers can also add new students to sections, create new administrators (both at teacher level and TA level), and view logs of all other administrators for specious activities.
